Used the Adele video for ideas for interesting shots and shots to make the character look vulnerable.

Used the Ellie Goulding and Afterglo video to look at different ways to portray a relationship through camera work.

Also looked at the Bad Blood video to find ideas on how to portray a strong female character who is in power.

Group: Progression of Video

Re-watching our video has shown us that we are missing some technical excellence so through research into other videos we have liked we have developed more ideas to make our video show a deeper meaning.
To accomplish this we are adding things to our video:
  • Rewind scene at the end- all the narrative events of the video will rewind very quickly at the end of the video to show the male character's regret of the events and his wish that they never happened. We got the idea of the rewind from the Breezeblocks (Alt-J) video, and we got the idea of doing at then end with all the events of the video from a previous years work.
  • We will accomplish this rewind technique by exporting purely the narrative part of the timeline and then adding it back on to the main timeline and using the time-lapse tool to make it backwards and speeding it up.
  • We also liked the idea of the use of words that is seen in the work of a previous year. We think words could tie the video together and give it a deeper meaning as well as showing the audience more clearly what is happening.
  • We would like to use words in this video that create binary oppositions but also show what is happening in the narrative and the feelings behind it. We would like to use words such as 'meeting' 'fall' 'love' 'struck' 'risk' 'games' 'truth' 'lies'. I also think the last word shown should be 'regret' after we have had the rewind sequence of events to show his final feelings about the events.

Group: Filming Plans

  • We are filming on the 1st December during school time where we are shooting a new line of action in the Drama Studio
  • We plan to shoot close ups of our protagonist as their emotions change throughout the video, we will intercut this with our timeline to help give a closer connection to the characters

Shots:

  • Close ups of Frankie laughing, putting on lipstick, looking towards the camera
  • Close ups of Doug looking in love, uncomfortable, worried
  • 360 pans of them being close
  • Close ups of them together talking, laughing and playing
  • Over the shoulder shots of them interacting with each other
  • Pan up of Frankie from Doug's perspective
  • Frankie lip syncing the chorus

JP: Shoot Reflection 3

Our third shoot took place on Sunday 22cd November 2015, we were filming at the café Lo-Gi

What went well:

  • We had permission from security to film so we did not face the issues we faced last time, this meant we could successfully film all of the shots at the café
  • We filmed a variation of shot distances and angles to help make interesting continuity cuts

Challenges:

  • One of our actors was not feeling very well so we had to stop filming earlier than expected however we managed to film everything we needed in time
  • Also it was very windy which affected a few shots however there was nothing we could do but keep re-filming until they came out right

Group: Editing Progress

  • We have edited all of the footage that we have shot, there is one minute remaining to film which is the second line of action.
  • In the recent lessons we have been cutting our footage and putting the new clips onto the timeline, in places the cutting rate can be increased especially after the new line of action has been filmed as we can intercut between them
  • We added the ghost effect to the scenes of our protagonists drinking to help imply the feeling of being drunk, originally we had this in multiple drinking scenes however we disliked this and only included it during the scenes of them moving after drinking
