JP: Shoot Reflection

On Monday 9th November we had our first shoot, during this shoot Rory and I shared filming and directing roles across the shoot

Strengths:

  • It was our first for the whole group and crew to be filming so was good team building experience
  • We managed to practice some shot techniques we would like to feature in our video
  • We got footage for the opening scenes however we are thinking of re-filming parts
  • Using the crab dolly proved to be useful and efficient allowing us to pan and move the camera with ease

Challenges:

  • A big challenge we faced was not being able to film at the cafe location due to being told to leave by a security guard, I had permission from the cafe however we were still forced to leave, on our next shoot we are hoping not to have similar issues as the cafe owner is planning on speaking to a manager
  • We filmed a lot of medium and long ranged shots not giving us enough variety of shots, on the second shoot we plan to get a good variety of shots
  • Finally we struggled for time with the lighting, it became dark very quickly and we ran out of light to shoot in

Second Shoot:

  • We are planning to shoot again on Wednesday 11th November and also Sunday 15th November, during this shoots we hope to refilm certain scenes and film the cafe and car scenes.
